Learn how to make delicious Savor the Heat with a Spicy Korean Fried Chicken Bowl Delight. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Begin by cutting the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces. Set them aside while you prepare the coating mixture.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Coat the chicken pieces thoroughly in the mixture, ensuring each piece is well-covered.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil. Once hot, fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, whisk together the soy sauce, gochujang, honey, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce until evenly coated. Cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the chicken to soak up all that spicy goodness.
  6. To assemble the bowls, start with a generous scoop of jasmine rice, followed by the spicy chicken. Top with shredded carrots, green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
